YAMATO. 30th anniversary tour. Japanese drummers.
On October 30, the world’s most popular Japanese drummer group YAMATO will perform at the GORS embassy in Latgale, as part of the 30-year anniversary tour. Spectators are waiting for an impressive show with the unique sound of dozens of drums and incredible energy. The acoustic effect of YAMATO is much bigger than what is possible to imagine.
YAMATO plays Taiko, a traditional Japanese drum. It is said that the sound of Taiko is the sound of Japan itself. The group was formed 30 years ago in Nara Prefecture, which is considered the cradle of the entire country’s culture. Since its establishment, the artists have performed more than 4,500 concerts in 54 countries.
YAMATO is a unique spectacular show with incredible energy. The musicians perform in authentic Japanese costumes, combining drumming with dancing and theatrical elements. More than 40 Taiko drums are used in YAMATO performances, each with a different character and sound. For example, their largest drum called “Odaiko” is made of a huge tree that is more than 400 years old, has a diameter of about two meters and weighs 500 kg.
