The exhibition “Made in Latvia” – a story about the history of Latvian industry and craftsmanship during the First Independence period

In the second-floor White Hall of the exhibition house “Brīvvalsts dārgumu nams” you can view the exhibition “Made in Latvia”, which will allow anyone interested to look into the development story of our country through its manufacturing and entrepreneurial achievements in the years 1918–1940.

The aim of the exhibition is to reveal to a wider public who were the largest producers and factories of our country, the most outstanding craftsmen and industrialists who formed the economic backbone of Latvia in the first half of the 20th century. Visitors will be able to see more than 300 authentic items collected for the exhibition “Made in Latvia” in cooperation with 15 private collectors from all over Latvia and abroad.

The director of the exhibition house “Brīvvalsts dārgumu nams”, Jolanta Leitāne, about the upcoming exhibition:
“We have been working diligently for several months to ensure that the exhibition ‘Made in Latvia’ is truly interesting, valuable, and enjoyable for every one of our guests. It will feature objects of very diverse themes, ranging from women’s long silk stockings and fine silver jewelry to the field telephones or gas masks of Latvian Army artillerymen, which were produced at VEF. Several famous book publishers of that time will also be represented, as well as confectionery factories, porcelain and ceramics manufacturers, producers of leather, metal, textile, glass, musical instruments, and other items. The exhibition will be supplemented by rare photographs from exhibitions and production sites, as well as statistical data and various documents. It is important to note that this exhibition at the ‘Brīvvalsts dārgumu nams’ will be on view for a whole year – from November to November, so I invite you to plan a visit and appreciate the history of Latvian industry in person.”
