Rēzekne – 740: Stories in the Exhibition “Of Roses and Thorns”

This year, Rēzekne marks an important anniversary – 740 years since the city’s name was first mentioned in historical records. To celebrate this occasion, the Latgale Culture and History Museum presents a thematic exhibition “Of Roses and Thorns”, revealing both the brightest moments and the challenging paths of life from the pages of Latgale’s and Rēzekne’s history through testimonies of different eras. The exhibition stories will be brought to life by historical photographs and documents, artworks, decorative household items, examples of folk crafts, and sacred objects from Catholic parishes. These elements will highlight both the joys and trials experienced by people throughout various historical periods. In addition to items from the museum’s own collection, visitors will also have the opportunity to see exhibits from other Latvian museums, private collections, and Catholic parishes.
